Cyber Security Salary in India
What freshers really get offered, how fast pay grows, which roles pay the most and what actually moves your package. Indicative ranges from public salary data, not promises.
Most freshers in India start at about ₹3.5–6 LPA. With 3–6 years of hands-on experience, pay typically reaches ₹8–15 LPA, and senior specialists, architects and security managers can earn ₹25 LPA or more. Your role, skills and employer move the number far more than your degree does.

Cyber security fresher salary: what to really expect
Most first offers land between ₹3.5 and ₹6 LPA. Where you land inside that range depends on a few things you can control.
Service companies & support roles
Large IT service firms and managed SOC providers hire many freshers for L1 monitoring, with structured training and shift work.
Hands-on skills you can prove
Freshers who can show SIEM labs, a VAPT report or a home lab in the interview usually get the better offers.
Product firms, GCCs & consulting
Global capability centres, product companies and Big Four consulting pay more, but their interview bar is higher.
CTC is not your take-home
CTC includes PF and other parts. On a ₹4 LPA offer, expect roughly ₹29,000–31,000 a month in hand, depending on the salary structure.
Offers above ₹10 LPA for freshers do exist, but they are rare — usually top campus hires or candidates with strong internships. Plan for the normal range and grow from there.
Cyber security salary by job role
Different jobs in the same field pay very differently. Offensive, cloud and application security roles usually pay more than monitoring roles at the same experience level.
↔️ Swipe the table sidewaysRole titles vary between companies — one firm’s “Security Analyst” is another’s “SOC Engineer”. Compare the job description, not just the title. Ranges come from the same sources as the table above.

A little. Metro tech hubs pay more than smaller cities because that is where most SOCs, product companies and global capability centres are.
Bengaluru
Hyderabad
Pune
Mumbai
Delhi NCR
📍 Salary surveys disagree on the exact order after Bengaluru. Tier-2 cities typically pay about 20–30% less than metros, though remote and hybrid roles are narrowing the gap.
What increases your cyber security salary
Experience matters, but these six things decide how quickly your salary moves.
Proof of hands-on work
Labs, write-ups and real reports get you a better first offer than certificates alone.
The right certificate at the right time
Security+ or CEH helps at entry level; OSCP or cloud certifications help later. See which to start with in our career guide.
Move into a higher-paying track
After one to two years in a SOC, moving into VAPT, cloud or application security usually brings the biggest jump.
Company type matters
Product companies, GCCs and consulting firms usually pay more than support-led service roles for the same experience.
Change jobs at the right time
Moving after two to three years of solid experience often beats an annual increment. Prepare with our cyber security interview questions.
Explain and report clearly
People who can explain risk to managers and write clean reports move into lead roles faster.
